The Toronto Branch is Back
By: Jason Burgoin
On Saturday, September 28th approximately twenty-five members of the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada gathered at Hart House in the University of Toronto for a special dinner. The event was attended by members of the Toronto Branch as well as the Society’s newly elected President, David Rumball, members of the National Executive, and friends. Miss Andrea Blackler from Hart House was the Society’s guest for the evening and was presented with a cheque for $1000.00 from the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada Toronto Branch to assist in the ongoing North Wall restoration project of the Scott-Carter coats of arms of 74 universities from counties allied with Canada and Britain during the First World War which is being conducted in the Great Hall of the building.
In addition to the fellowship, wonderful dinner, and presentation to Hart House, the Toronto Branch elected a new Branch President (Jonathan Lofft), Vice President (Jason Burgoin), and Treasurer (David Birtwistle). Each newly elected member vowed to revitalize the Toronto Branch and make it as strong and vibrant as it has been in the past with the support of all members.
Thank you to all members who were able to attend the festivities on 28th October 2013. A special thanks to Andrea Blackler for attending on behalf of Hart House and our Society President for organizing such a wonderful event.
