Branch Dinner at the Hamilton Club
By: Jason Burgoin
The ambiance and classic rich style of the Hamilton Club set the stage for a black-tie dinner at The Hamilton Club on the evening of 22 February 2014. The Toronto Branch was honoured to have Mr. Gordon Macpherson CM, FRHSC – Niagara Herald Extraordinary as the guest of honour for the evening, and it was well attended by 35 members and guests including the Rouge Herald Extraordinary and the Albion Herald Extraordinary. One of the highlights of the evening was a lecture by Mr. Derwin Mak on the Chinese Armorial as well as the development of Chinese heraldry and how Chinese symbols have been added or represented in many heraldic achievements of Chinese people.
It was a great evening for old friends to get together and rekindle memories of the branch, as well as to introduce some of the new members that have joined the Branch in recent months.
Everyone in attendance had a great evening and, as it was pointed out by the National President, it was great to see so many members in conversation and laughing together at the table. We all hope that more of our members will be able to attend the next event. We have now set the standard high for Toronto Branch dinners.
