A Hatchment for a King of Arms
Branch members and guests came out to join the Branch President on Saturday, November 16, 2019, in presenting the hatchment of Sir Conrad Marshall John Fisher Swan KCVO FSA to Our Lady of the Assumption, Roman Catholic Church in Windsor, Ontario. The connection of the church to Sir Conrad Swan dates back to his own education at the University of Western Ontario (Assumption College) and further lecturing on history at Assumption University from 1955-61. He was subsequently appointed Rouge Dragon Pursuivant of Arms in 1962 and left for the United Kingdom. The hatchment, designed and painted by Mrs. Ilona Jurkiewicz, FRHSC, and was commissioned by the Branch earlier this year is a testament to his lifelong dedication to the advancement and preservation of Heraldry within Canada.
We would like to again thank Captain Jason Burgoin, CD; Dr. David Butler, FRHSC, UE; Mr. Colin Fleming; Mr. George Hope, CD; Mr. Sasa Kahrimanovic; Mr. George McNeillie, UE; Mrs. Debbie Morgan-Greenshields, Mr. Stephen Murray, FRHSC; Mr. Robbie Sprules and Dr. Richard White for your generous contribution to make this a lasting memorial
